Aesthetic Training

Start your career off on the right foot.

With options for doctors, nurses, and therapists A.T.A.I have a course to take your career to the next level.

Medical aesthetics and device led therapies are a cornerstone of the aesthetic industry. From Botox® and Dermal Filler, micro-needling and chemical skin peels through to energy-based machines, the sector is experiencing year-on-year growth, and that trend is set to continue.

Our use of modern learning aids, delivering theory through online learning allows for an increased focus on practical skills training while also offering increased flexibility to our delegates. Our trainers are doctors, nurses and therapists that are all practicing aesthetic specialists.

Medical subject matter experts write our theory in an inclusive language; meaning regardless if you hold a medical degree or a beauty therapy diploma, our content is easy to follow and understand.

Aesthetic Medicine

Confidence & Competence – it has to be the only learning outcome for the aesthetic sector.

The scourge of one and two day training is what drove us to create a programme of in-depth practically focused training for aesthetic medicine. No matter where you look, from product brands, distributors through to supposed training companies, the entire sector is driven by ineffective one and two day training. We brought in a simple idea, training driven by ethics. We extended that concept with clinical placement, the cornerstone of the medical sector. With courses specifically tailored for doctors and nurses, we have forged a new direction in the sector, practitioners that are ready to practice.

Redefining Beauty

Aesthetic Beauty – a new foundation education suiting a technology driven sector.

Beauty therapists are an indispensable sector of the industry. However, with the emergence and further drive within the industry of device led treatments the traditional beauty diploma did not keep pace and became a poor fitting, if not dangerous entry into the sector. Moreover, many candidates wanting to enter the sector have no interest in traditional beauty treatments such as nails, tanning and makeup. Unfortunately, the industry ignored the change in the sector and have continued to roll out the same tired, ill-fitting course offerings.

We have redesigned the educational pathway for the new era of device led therapies with a fit for purpose robust education pathway suiting budding beauty therapists. Along with our partner IQ Verify we developed the Level 4 in Aesthetic Therapy. A new gateway into the sector for school leavers or mature age students.

Course Pathways

Courses should be gateways not dead ends – we offer pathways for continued progression regardless if the delegate is a Doctor, Nurse or Therapist.

The concept of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is to keep practitioners knowledge current, to introduce new techniques and skills. It is why when we developed the Level 4 in Aesthetic Therapy a core component of the qualification was recertification a need to maintain CPD and thus maintaining standards.

All our level 4 courses have a progression path through to level 7. While many modalities within level 6 and 7 are restricted to medical professionals all careers have an extended pathway to continue their education. Once again we see the issue of education not keeping pace with the sector. Our Level 4 Chemical Peels course is the foundation for the modality, it provides a robust foundation education for the delivering of chemical peels. It is suited to Doctors, Nurses and Therapists; however, what next for the Doctor, Nurse or Therapist? Currently the industry has offered a dead end. We are removing that roadblock to provide a progression pathway. Jessner, TCA, Phenol, combined and complementing therapies, the modality of the chemical peel is the depth of a Phenol peel, yet there is virtually no support for progression training.

The concept of progression, Level 4, 5, 6, and 7 runs across all modalities.

A New Scourge

We are seeing a new trend – one and two day courses called level 4.

There is a growing noise pointing out the problem with one and two day training. It would seem some training providers are now calling their one and two day training level 4. We have seen micro-needling, chemical peel and mesotherapy courses called level 4 when only one or two days. In theory, a level 4 award could be 10 hours of study.

Understanding course terminology

Any regulated course will provide a credit value this is regulated by the QCF (Qualification Credit Framework.) How many credits the course entails determines whether the course is an Award, Certificate, Diploma or a Degree. Each unit of credit pertains to 10 hours of learning time.

  • An Award = 1 – 12 credits or 10 to 120 hours
  • A Certificate = 13 to 36 credits or 130 to 360 hours
  • A Diploma represents over 37 credits or 370 hours of study.

If shopping around we would urge you to select a regulated course for Chemical Peels, Micro Needling, Laser & IPL as they are the only courses that are future proofed against changes in the insurance sector. With Laser you already require a regulated accredited qualification to gain insurance at any reputable insurance company.

Accredited by whom?

A regulated course will be accredited by an awarding body. Courses in the aesthetic space are typically accredited by Industry Qualifications (IQ), IQ Verify, ITEC/VTCT and CIBTAC. The courses are regulated by one of the public regulators governing qualifications such as Ofqual (UK) QQI, Ireland.

In a nutshell, if you are being offered a course that is 1 or 2 days it is basically not worth the paper it is written on.
