Introduction
The Diploma in Aesthetic Therapy represents the most in-depth version of our group of access aesthetic courses. It includes all that is delivered in the Award in Aesthetic Therapy and the Certificate in Aesthetic Therapy and further equips the delegate with advanced Level 5 Laser modalities including Tattoo Removal. It delves into complex medium peels, includes a fully accredited first aid course and even provides advanced laser facial techniques as the suspended carbon laser facial. We provide a more in-depth education into skin needling techniques moving beyond skin rejuvenation and into skin restoration of acne scarring, post-operative scarring and general scar treatment. We move into complex treatment scenarios requiring treatment pathways using multiple evidence-based modalities to address broad skin structural concerns. You will learn about treatment options for pigmented and vascular lesions, be able to operate within your remit for advanced vascular treatment with the ND: Yag laser.
While the course is challenging it is not out of the reach of school leavers wanting to enter the aesthetics sector. Our inclusive online learning approach to theory with a reinforced practical methodology coupled with access to expert tutors provide a memorable and valuable learning environment. You will come out of the course employment ready with a host of sought-after skills and qualifications, that will serve you well in Ireland and just as well if you decide to work internationally.
Practical Focus
80% of your class time is spent on practical training. Delivering theory through eLearning allows a core focus in producing an outstanding hands-on practical educational experience. Acquire skills to provide a thorough consultation to establish client suitability for treatment and also the knowledge on how to formulate a specific treatment plan tailored to suit individual client’s needs. Learners will also be able to provide the client with relevant post-care to maximise treatment results and look after their skin post-treatment. Understand the systems of the body, how nutrition affects skin health while also gaining a full understanding of the physiology of ageing. Learn about evidence-based practice, professionalism, law and ethics. Learn about at-risk groups and body dysmorphia through psychology for aesthetics practice.
Evidence Based
During the course, you will undertake clinical training in a variety of settings. You will learn to identify, evaluate and manage the physical, psychological and social needs of clients undergoing dermal assessment and treatment for conditions such as:
- wound healing
- scarring
- pre/post-operative skin care
- fluid retention
- inflammatory conditions
- skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and rosacea
- uneven skin tone and pigmentation
- ageing or sun damaged skin
- removal of excess hair, skin tags and superficial veins.
Understand the skin as an organ and how nutrition, environmental factors, stress and lifestyle impact skin health. Learn research methodology and evidence-based practice. Understand how to create complex treatment plans, advanced consultation skills and how to identify at-risk groups through aesthetic psychology.

First Aid
Included in the course is a fully accredited first aid course valid for two years. The module covers all aspects of general first-aid and first aid in the workplace.
Module content includes:
- cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) & automated external defibrillator (AED) use including:
- heart attack
- stroke
- foreign body airway obstruction
- medical emergencies (e.g. diabetes, epilepsy, asthma)
- trauma (bleeding control, musculoskeletal injuries, sprains and strains)
- poisons and allergic reactions
- burns & scalds
