If you are thinking about starting your beauty therapy career, ask yourself, should you select a beauty therapy college that is not equipped for today’s advanced modalities? Or should you select an aesthetics training college with an emphasis on the advanced treatments that clients are looking for and the equipment to deliver such an education?
Welcome to ATAI, your passport into advanced skin aesthetics.
One of the single most common questions we are asked is, do you provide an entry-level course that does not include beauty therapy treatments like nails, tanning, waxing, makeup and massage.
Well, now we can say, yes we do. Launching in 2019 our Diploma in Aesthetic Therapy is specifically designed as an entry point into the industry without the traditional beauty treatments. This is the choice for anyone looking to enter the non-surgical aesthetics sector. Before you sign up for a beauty specialists course or diploma, talk to us. With the fastest growing segment of the industry centred around device and skin health modalities, you may find a course in aesthetics more rewarding than a traditional beauty therapy education.
The course is based on blended learning, with 80% of the theory delivered through eLearning. The course which starts with the fundamentals will instil the skills, knowledge and bedside manner to become a competent aesthetics practitioner. While the theory is delivered through eLearning, each class will revise what you have learnt into practical classes. Delivering the theory component through eLearning allows us to concentrate on practical skills training while lowering the time component to complete the course.
The course is designed to exceed the directives in training for non-surgical cosmetic interventions as laid down by the HEE (UK), meet the standards of the JCCP and CPSA. It will provide the learner with an education far exceeding any beauty specialists diploma and is more relevant than a CIDESCO qualification for candidates looking to enter aesthetics rather than beauty.
80% of your class time is spent on practical training. Delivering theory through eLearning allows a core focus in producing an outstanding hands-on practical educational experience. Acquire skills to provide a thorough consultation to establish client suitability for treatment and also the knowledge on how to formulate a specific treatment plan tailored to suit individual client’s needs. Learners will also be able to provide the client with relevant post-care to maximise treatment results and look after their skin post-treatment. Understand the systems of the body, how nutrition affects skin health while also gaining a full understanding of the physiology of ageing. Learn about evidence-based practice, professionalism, law and ethics. Learn about at-risk groups and body dysmorphia through psychology for aesthetics practice.
During the course, you will undertake clinical training in a variety of settings. You will learn to identify, evaluate and manage the physical, psychological and social needs of clients undergoing dermal assessment and treatment for conditions such as:
- wound healing
- pre/post-operative skin care
- fluid retention
- inflammatory conditions
- skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and rosacea
- uneven skin tone and pigmentation
- ageing or sun damaged skin
- removal of excess hair, skin tags and superficial veins.
